PLUS participated in Holland Pavilion at the Agricultural Trade Fairs in Kyiv, 11-13 February 2015

PLUS for Progress was happy to participate in a Holland Pavilion organised by the Dutch Embassy in Ukraine at the 3 main international agricultural fairs which took place at the same time in Kyiv (11-13 February 2015).

These 3 annual exhibitions (Agro Animal ShowFruit. Vegetable. Logistics & Grain Tech Expo) focus on all the stages of agricultural production like:

·         Agricultural machinery and equipment;

·         Agrochemical products, including fertilizers and pesticides;

·         Propagation materials, seed-potato’s and post-harvest processing

·         Cooling and storage technologies;

·         Livestock Systems and dairy;

·         Animal feed and premixes;

·         Animal genetic breeding material and veterinary, etc.

Despite of the current situation, the agricultural sector is still considered as one of the most promising of the Ukrainian economy. The signing of the Free Trade Agreement and the necessary modernisation-process provides a strong basis for further development of Ukrainian agro-sector, creating opportunities for Dutch suppliers.

Also PLUS President Mr. Herman Vermeer was invited as a speaker to the VI Dutch-Ukrainian Agribusiness Forum "Increasing profitability of the Ukrainian potato sector", which was held on February 12, 2015 within the business program of the International Exhibition Fruits. Vegetables. Logistics 2015.

At the Forum the following issues were discussed:

·        General facts and figures on Potato sector;

·         Global view on the sector, how Netherlands developed its strategy and whether Ukraine could learn from Holland;

·         Challenges of 2014 season, weather, costs etc;

·         Growing potatoes for washing and packing difference in approach comparing to conventional;

·         Dutch experience in potato production and marketing. Tips for Ukraine;

·         General requirements to potatoes supplied to retail including: size, scab, packing on pallets, etc. Payment terms, etc.;

·         Development of potato farming in relations with trade and logistics; chain cooperation; different types of chains and different levels of chain cooperation, external factors.
